Williston bicyclist dies after being struck by truck from behind

Levy County, Florida - A 76 year-old Williston, Florida man was killed in a motor vehicle crash that occurred Sunday morning, Sept. 6, at 7:17 am in Williston. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was riding a bicycle, traveling east on NE 60th St., west of CR 241 (150th Ave.), when he was struck from behind struck by the front right side of a pickup truck driven by a 27 year-old Williston man. After the collision, the 76 year-old man was thrown from the bicycle onto the eastbound travel lane of NE 60th St., while the truck continued traveling east on the roadway, then came to a stop on the south shoulder of NE 60th St., facing northeast. According to the press release, the bicyclist was wearing a helmet, and the driver of the truck was wearing a seatbelt.
