Ocala, Florida - A three-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Ocala, Florida at 8:52 am on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, resulted in serious injuries to all four occupants of the three vehicles. The crash occurred in Ocala (Marion County) on County Road 484, 1,000 feet east of SW 83rd Avenue Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 2009 Buick sedan, driven by a 17 year old male from Ocala, was traveling west on County Road 484.

At the same time, a 2018 Toyota sedan, driven by a 22 year old male from Summerfield, Florida, was traveling east (in the opposite direction) on CR 484, with a 2021 Marion County emergency medical services (EMS) truck traveling behind it, driven by a 29 year-old male from Dunnellon, with a 27 year-old male from Dunnellon as his passenger.

For unknown reasons, the driver of the Buick briefly traveled off a curve in the roadway onto the north shoulder. When the driver overcorrected his vehicle's course of travel, the Buick veered across the centerline, and the Buick's left front struck the left side of the Toyota sedan traveling in the opposite direction.

After the Buick collided with the Toyota, the driver of the EMS truck noticed that the Buick was headed in his direction, so he traveled onto the south shoulder of the roadway in an attempt to avoid a collision with the Buick, but he was unsuccessful, and the Buick struck the EMS truck head on.

All theee drivers and the passenger of the EMS truck were transported to HCA Florida Ocala Hospital (formerly Ocala Regional Medical Center) in Ocala, all with serious injuries. All four were wearing a seatbelt, according to the FHP press release.

The driver of the Buick sedan was issued a citation for failure to drive within a single lane.
