A two-vehicle nearly head-on crash in Sumter County, Florida at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, resulted in the death of a 37 year-old man from Floral City (Citrus County), Florida and minor injuries to the four occupants of the other vehicle.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Floral City man was driving a Ford Focus, traveling south on State Road 471, when he lost control of the vehicle, south of Main Line Road, crossed the center line and collided with A Nissan Rogue, nearly head-on, that was traveling north on State Road 471. The Nissan rogue was driven by a 27 year-old woman from Gaylesville, Alabama.
After the impact, both vehicles traveled to the shoulder and overturned.
The Floral City man, who was unrestrained, suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Nissan Rogue, along with her three passengers, two men and a four year-old boy, all suffered minor injuries.
