Three die as result of head-on crash in Crystal River
Crystal River, Florida - A two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Crystal River at 6:55 pm on Sunday, December 9, 2023, resulted in the death of three Citrus County, Florida residents.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Citrus Avenue, north of West Marquette Lane, where a Toyota Tundra, was traveling south, and a 2011 Buick Regal was traveling north. For unknown reasons, the driver of the Toyota Tundra failed to maintain control of the vehicle, crossed over the center line into the path of the oncoming vehicle, and collided nearly head-on with the Buick Regal.
The collision resulted in fatal injuries to all three occupants of the two vehicles, who were pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Toyota Tundra was a 65 year-old man whose passenger was a 44 year-old woman; both were residents of Homosassa, Florida.
The driver of the Buick Regal was a 17 year-old boy of Citrus Springs, Florida.
