Woman killed in Sunday evening crash in Homosassa, FL
A 69 year-old woman from Homosassa, Florida died as the result of a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 5:15 pm on Sunday evening, Decemer 3, 2023 in the "Old Homosassa" area of Homosassa (west of U.S. Highway 19 / South Suncoast Boulevard).
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a Chevrolet Traverse sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling north on South Mason Creek Road, when she failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, north of West Red Maple Street. As a result, the vehicle traveled to the west shoulder and collided with a tree.
Unrestrained, the driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital where she later expired.
