Stolen car totaled by CSX Train crash in Pasco County, FL
Zephyrhills, Florida - On Monday morning, October 23, 2023, sometime before 8:10 a.m., a CSX freight train, traveling north on railroad tracks running parallel and east of State Road 39 (Paul S. Buchman Hwy.), collided with a stolen Chevrolet Silverado truck that had been abandoned on the railraod tracks, several hundred feet south of Bay Avenue in Crystal Springs, Florida, south of Zephyrhills in southeastern Pasco County. The vehicle had been stolen from the Mosaic fertilizer plant, located at 10609 Paul S. Buchman Hwy. in Plant City, Florida, a distance of approximately two miles. There were no injuries to anyone riding on the train, and the train did not derail. The truck was knocked off the railroad tracks by the train, and was found upside-down near the tracks (see FHP photos).
