Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop-B, Lake City, Florida
The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking information regarding the driver and/or a hit and run vehicle that struck and seriously injured a 15 year-old female pedestrian on Monday night, September 11, 2023 at 10:05 pm. The incident occurred in Dunnellon (Marion County), Florida in the eastbound lanes of State Road 40, 0.7-mile west of SW 185th Avenue Road.
The vehicle being sought is believed to be a dark colored 2018 to 2024 GMC Terrain sport utility vehicle (SUV) with a missing right side mirror and possible damage to it's right side.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling east on State Road 40 and the pedestrian (of Milton, Florida) was walking with her dog in a westerly direction, on the south paved shoulder of State Road 40, when the vehicle traveled onto the south shoulder, striking the pedestrian with the right side of the vehicle. The driver stopped briefly, on the south shoulder of State Road 40, and then left the scene without providing any information or medical aid.
The injured teenager was transported to UF (University of Florida) Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida in serious condition.
