Crystal River, FL man dies in Sept. 7, Sumter County crash
A 29 year-old man from Cystal River, Florida died as the result of a two vehicle crash that occurred at 4:50 am on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023, at the intersection of County Road 476 and State Road 471 in Sumter County, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the Crystal River man was driving a pickup truck, traveling east on County Road 476. The second vehicle involved in the crash was a tractor/trailer rig, driven by a 63 year-old man from Coleman, Florida, traveling north on State Road 471.
The FHP press release stated, that at the intersection of the two roadways, the Crystal River man driving the pickup truck failed to yield to the tractor trailelr rig, and his pickup truck collided with the undercarriage of the tractor trailer.
The driver from Crystal River suffered fatal injuries, and died at the scene of the crash. The driver from Coleman was not injured in the crash. Both drivers were wearing a seatbelt and neither carried a passenger, according to the press release.
