Lecanto man killed in single vehicle crash on SR 44 in Lecanto
Lecanto, Florida - A 29 year-old man from Lecanto, Florida died as the result of a traffic crash that occurred at 2:20 am on September 16, 2023, on State Road 44 (W. Gulf to Lake Hwy.) in Lecanto. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a sedan, traveling east on State Road 44, west of W. Homosassa Trail, when for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle, which traveled over the raised grass median and overturned across the westbound lanes of State Road 44, before coming to final rest along the north shoulder of the highway. The driver suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The press release stated that the driver, who carried no passenger, was wearing a seatbelt.
