Citrus Springs, FL woman - a pedestrian, dies after being struck by SUV in New Port Richey, FL
New Port Richey, Florida - A 31 year-old woman from Citrus Springs (Citrus County), Florida, a pedestrian, died as the result of being struck by a vehicle in Pasco County, Florida on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 8:15 pm.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 50 year-old man from Lutz, Florida was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling east on State Rooad 54, west of Celtic Drive in New Port Richey, where the pedestrian - for unknown reasons - was standing in the dark, unlighted roadway. The driver was unable to stop in time to avoid striking the pedestrian, and the vehicle struck her.
The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where she later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
The driver of the SUV was not injured during the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt and carried no passengers.
