Crystal River, FL man dies in Sept. 7, Sumter County, FL traffic crash
A 29 year-old man from Crystal River, Florida died as the result of a two vehicle crash that occurred at 4:50 am on Thursday, September 7, 2023 in Sumter County, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) the Crystal River man was driving a pickup truck, traveling east on County Road 476. At the same time, a 63 year-old man from Coleman, Florida was driving a tractor/trailer, traveling north on State Road 471.
At the intersection of the two roadways - County Road 476 and State Road 471 - the Crystal River man driving the pickup truck failed to yield to the driver of the tractor/trailer and collided with the undercarriage of the tractor/trailer.
The Crystal River man suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the tractor/trailer was not injured. Each of the drivers was wearing a seatbelt, and neither carried a passenger.
