Man killed in collision with tractor/trailer at SE 200 / CR 491 in Hernando, FL
Hernando (Citrus County), Florida - A 60 year-old man from Hernando, Florida died as the result of a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Monday morning, July 10, 2023 at 7:47 am. The crash occurred in Hernando, at the intersection of State Road 200 and N. Lecanto Highway (County Road 491).
According to the Florida HIghway Patrol, the man killed in the crash was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling south on State Road 200. The other vehicle, a tractor/trailer, was traveling east on North Lecanto Highway (County Road 491). At the intersection of the two highways, the driver of the SUV failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with the left side of the tractor/trailer.
The driver of the SUV suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the tractor/trailer, a 45 year-old man from Beverly Hills, Florida and his passenger, a 16 year old male from Dunnellon, Florida, both received minor injuries.
The three passengers of the two vehicles were all wearing a seatbelt.
