Hernando, Florida - A 61 year-old Hernando man driving a golf cart died as the result of a traffic crash that occurred in Hernando at 2:14 pm on Friday afternoon, June 30.
According to the Florida HIghway Patrol, a 48 year-old man from Beverly Hills, Florida was driving a Nissan Rogue sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling south on W. Fenway Drive, a two lane road with a bicycle lane adjacent to the northbound lane. The SUV had passed the golf cart, that was also traveling south on W. Fenway Drive in the bicycle lane, and as the SUV slowed and turned left onto N. Lake Marie Terrace, the bumper of the SUV collided with the golf cart. The impact caused the golf cart to rotate and strike a curb, during which the driver was thrown from the golf cart.
The driver of the golf cart was transported to an area hospital where he later expired
from injuries suffered during the crash.
The SUV driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was not injured during the crash.
