Reckless driving suspect evades capture near Chiefland, FL after vehicle chase
Levy County, Florida - According to the Lieutenant Patrick Riordan, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Troop B Public Affairs Officer, on June 9, 2023, about 12:45 pm, a FHP trooper observed a driver, traveling in a reckless manner with no regard for the safety of others, and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, north of Chiefland, Florida on U.S. Highway 19. However, the driver did not stop, and after a pursuit, in the area of County Road 345 and NW 25th St., the driver jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. Numerous law enforcement agencies joined the search, and at 2:40 pm, a Department of Corrections (DOC) K-9 unit joined the search. At 5:00 pm, the suspect escaped the perimeter. At this time, no further information is available.
