Dunnellon, FL woman dies as result of two-vehicle crash on SR 200
Ocala (Marion County), Florida - A two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 9:54 pm, resulted in the death of a 33 year-old woman from Dunnellon, Florida. The crash occurred on State Road 200 at SW 110th St. in Ocala.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 23 year-old woman from Ocala, Florida was driving a sedan, traveling east on State Road 200, approaching a red traffic light signal at the intersection of SW 110 Street, and instead of stopping, ran through the intersection on the red traffic signal - which resulted in the left front section of her vehicle striking the left side of a sedan driven by the woman from Dunnellon, that was traveling north on SW 100 Street, from the Oak Run subdivision, on a green traffic light signal.
Both drivers were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment. The woman from Ocala sustained minor injuries. However, the woman from Dunnellon later succumbed to injuries she sustained in the crash, and she was pronounced deceased at HCA Florida Ocala Hospital (formerly Ocala Regional Medical Center) in Ocala.
The press release stated that the crash obstructed travel within the eastbound lanes of State Road 200. It also stated that each driver was wearing a seatbelt, neither carried a passenger, and the crash is pending further investigation.
