UPDATE: Citrus County April 14 hit and run crash NOW FATAL

FHP UPDATE: April 19, 2023

On Tuesday, April 18th the victim involved in this case, a 49-year-old Homosassa man, expired from his injuries suffered during the April 14th hit-and-run traffic crash. FHP Troopers continue to search for the suspect who fled the scene.

Homosassa crash seriously injures bicyclist; FHP seeking identity of hit and run driver

Florida Highway Patrol (FHP)

Homosassa (Citrus County), Florida - A bicyclist was struck and seriously injured by a hit and run vehicle, a sedan, at 10:35 pm on Friday evening, April 14, 2023, in Homosassa.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the sedan was traveling east on West Grover Cleveland Boulevard, just east of Ohio Street, when the vehicle overtook and collided with a bicycle being peddled by a 49 year-old man from Homosassa, that was also traveling east along the road edge on West Grover Cleveland Boulevard. Upon impact, the bicyclist was propelled onto the shoulder of the roadway as the motorist continued traveling east without stopping. The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries.
