UPDATE, April 3, 2023:
According to Sergeant Steve Gaskins, FHP Public Affairs Officer for Troops C and K with the Tampa Bay, Florida regions, "The pedestrian involved in this case who suffered fatal injuries has been successfully identified as a 25-year-old Bushnell man. FHP Troopers continue to investigate the incident."

On April 1, 2023 at 11:30 pm, a 42 year-old woman from Bartown, Florida, accompanied by a 42 year-old man from Haines City, Florida, was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling west in Sunterville (Sumter County), Florida on County Road 470, west of County Road 533, when a pedestrian (a 25 year-old man from Bushnell, Florida) walked into her path and was struck by the vehicle.
The male victim was transported to an area hospital, but later expired from injuries suffered during the crash. The occupants of the SUV were not injured during the crash.
(The pedestrian has since beenn identified.) The Florida Highway Patrol has been unable to identify the male victim and has released a photograph of a tattoo located on the deceased pedestrian's body. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the victim is asked to call *FHP (*347) or dial 813-558-1800 and select option 3.
