Spring Hill, FL woman dies when train strikes her vehicle in Sumter County, FL
A 37 year-old woman from Spring Hill, Florida died on February 14, 2023, when her vehicle was struck by a train, at 2:30 am, in Sumter County, Florida.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the woman was inside a Chrysler 200 sedan that was parked, facing east with its lights off, on the railroad tracks, at a private driveway adjacent to County Road 475. The sedan was struck by a CSX freight train that was traveling south and unable to stop.
The driver of the sedan suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the train, a 49 year-old man from Green Cove Springs, Florida, was not injured in the crash.
