FHP trooper involved in shooting in Live Oak; suspect deceased; trooper not injured

Live Oak, Florida - On Tesday evening, February 7, 2023, a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) trooper was involved in a shooting incident that occurred shortly before 5:30 pm, at the Busy Bee Travel Plaza convenience store, located at 6458 U.S. Highway 129 in Live Oak (Suwannee County), Florida, just north of Interstate 10.
According to Lieutenant Patrick Riordan, the Public Affairs Officer for FHP's Troop-B, the male subject involved in the incident is deceased, and the trooper was not injured. The trooper has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave, pursuant to FHP policy. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is the lead law enforcement agency responsible to independently investigate this incident, and as the investigation is still active, no additional information will be released at this time.
