Roundabout now open at US 98 and CR 491 in north Hernando County
Hernando, County - The new roundabout at US 98 and CR 491 in north Hernando County is now in its final configuration, and traffic is flowing through all portions, except the south connection to CR 491, Citrus Way. Drivers are urged to stay within the posted 25 mph speed limit and be extra alert as motorists become accustomed to the changes.
Southbound traffic on Citrus Way, turning onto westbound / northbound US 98, has its own direct connection and does not need to enter the roundabout. Drivers using this lane must yield to traffic on US 98 coming out of the roundabout.
The roundabout connection to the south side of Citrus Way remains closed and that detour is still in effect. The connection is expected to be opened by mid-January, and possibly before the holidays, if the weather allows for the completion of the final paving.
Drivers should also be aware of construction workers and equipment as work continues to complete the project. Expect paving and intermittent flagging operations, until all paving is completed.
