Tampa man, allegedly impaired, struck by three vehicles crossing I-75 in Pasco County, FL

Pasco County, Florida - At 5:07 am on Thursday morning, October 27, 2022, a 41 year-old man from Tampa, Florida, with his 20 year-old son his passenger, was driving a 2002 Ford Expedition sport utility vehicle, traveling southbound on Interstate 75, near Milepost 274 in Pasco County, Florida, when the SUV became disabled. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver drove the vehicle to a stop along the highway shoulder and, impaired, the pair exited the vehicle, and the 41 year-old Tampa man attempted to cross Intestate-75 on foot, but was struck, in successive order, by a van, a sport utility vehicle and a pickup truck.

After striking the pedestrian, the three vehicles came to a controlled stop along the highway. 

The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The crash closed the southbound lanes of Interstate-75, at State Road 56, until 2:30 pm.

None of the drivers of the vehicles that struck the pedestrian were injured; all the drivers were wearing a seatbelt, and none of the vehicles carried a passenger.

The van was driven by a 66 year-old man from Inverness, Florida; the sport utility vehicle
was driven by a 54 year-old man from Brooksville, Florida, and the pickup truck was driven by as 54 year-old man from New Port Richey, Florida.
