Lecanto woman struck/killed by truck while walking across SR 44 in Lecanto, FL
Lecanto (Citrus County), Florida - A 69 year-old woman from Lecanto died as the result of being struck by a Dodge pickup truck while walking in Lecanto on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 7:34 pm.
According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31 year-old man from Crystal River, Florida was driving a pickup truck, traveling west on State Road 44 (W. Gulf to Lake Hwy.), east of S. Lecanto Hwy. (County Road 491), when the pedestrian walked northbound across the roadway, into the path of the pickup truck. As a result, the pickup collided with the pedestrian, who suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
None of the passengers inside the pickup truck were injured as a result of the incident, all of whom were wearing a seatbelt. The other passengers of the truck included a 31 year-old woman, a 3 year-old boy, and an 8 year-old girl, all from Crystal River.
