A 5 year-old girl from Hernando, Florida was airlifted with non-incapacitating injuries, by Bayflight Unit 4, to U.F. Health Shands Children's Hospital in Gainesville, Florida on Saturday, October 15, 2022, after being struck by a golf cart.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at 6:45 pm on a private access road at the Citrus County Speedway, located at 3600 S. Airport Rd. in Inverness, Florida.

The golf cart was a 2016 Club Car XRT, driven by a 42 year-old man from Hernando, FL, traveling south on a paved, access road on the property. The 5 year-old girl darted from the right side of the roadway into the path of the golf cart, which resulted in the front of golf cart colliding with the girl, which knocked her to the pavement. The driver of the golf cart stopped immediately and came to rest approximately five feet north of the area of the collision.

According to the crash report, the road, in the area of the collision, is shared by pedestrians, race cars, and race track equipment.
