Levy County, Florida - A 66 year-old man from Yankeetown, Florida died as the result of a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 pm.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the man was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), in Inglis, Florida, traveling west on County Road 40 East, when the vehicle veered to the right, off the roadway in a northwesterly direction onto the north grass shoulder, until the front of the vehicle collided with a metal sign pole, a pink concrete elephant, and a tree, then overturned onto its roof, while being redirected to the southwest. The SUV came to rest on its roof, facing southwest, on the north grass shoulder of County Road 40 East.
The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash. The press release stated that the driver was wearing a seatbelt.
