Two Dunnellon residents killed, one seriously injured, as result of Columbia County July 31 traffic crash

Two Dunnellon, Florida residents were killed and a third was seriously injured as the result of a single vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Columbia County, Florida on Friday evening, July 31, at 8:20 pm.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 54 year-old Dunnellon man was driving a 2001 Ford sports utility vehicle, traveling north on SR 93, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted off the roadway in a northerly direction until it struck a tree with it's front.

The driver and his 30 year-old rear seat female passenger were air lifted to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. The 55 year-old female front seat passenger was pronounced deceased on the scene by Columbia County Fire Rescue.

At 8:30 am on Saturday morning, August 1, the 30 year-old passenger was pronounced deceased at the hospital, as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash

The press release stated that each of the three passengers was wearing a seatbelt.

Citing Macy's Law as the reason, the FHP no longer gives the names of people involved in traffic crashes in its press releases.
