Levy County man killed and his passenger seriously injured in Branford, FL crash
Gilchrist County, Florida - A 62 year-old woman from Trenton (Levy County), Florida was killed and her 64 year-old male passenger, also from Trenton, was seriously injuried in a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Sunday evening, July 17, 2022 at 7:32 pm. The crash occurred in Branford (Gilchrist County), Florida on NE 100th Street Road at NE 22nd Court.
According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a sedan, traveling west on NE 100th Street Road, approaching a slight left curve in the roadway, when for unknown reasons, she failed to keep the sedan within in its proper lane of travel, and the vehicle traveled onto the north shoulder where it struck the ditch with its front end, and came to rest facing west.
The driver, who was not wearing her seatbelt, according to the press release, was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash by medics with Gilchrist County Fire Rescue. The passenger was transported to a hospital in serious condition. According to the press release, it is unknown if the passenger was wearing a seatbelt.
