Levy County, Florida - A 45 year-old man from Live Oak, Florida lost his life as a result of a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred late Thursday afternoon, June 16, 2022 at 5:55 pm. The crash occurred on Levy County Road (CR) 339, 200 feet east of NE 150th Street (slightly west of Crabgrass Pond), southeast of Trenton, Florida (northwest of Bronson, FL) in Levy County.
The man killed in the traffic crash was driving a sport utllity vehicle (SUV), traveling north on State Road 339 (SR 339) in the northbound lane.
According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) the vehicle veered to the right, off the roadway, onto the east grass shoulder. The driver overcorrected to the left, which caused the vehicle to veer left, across the northbound lane, into the southbound lane of SR 339. The driver then counter-steered the vehicle to the right, which caused the vehicle to veer sharply to the right as it began rotating in a clockwise direction. The vehicle then overturned onto its left side and began overturning in a northerly direction before coming to rest, facing northeast, within the north and southbound lanes of SR 339, blocking both lanes.
The investigating trooper documented that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, which resulted in him being ejected from the vehicle when it overturned. He was found deceased, in the southbound lane of SR 339, south of the location where the vehicle came to rest.
The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash by a Levy County Fire Rescue paramedic at 6:27 p.m.
