Man charged with DUI following Floral City crash that seriously injuried two riders of a motorcycle

Floral City, Florida - A traffic crash between a motorcycle and a sedan that occurred in Floral City, at 10:40 pm on Saturday, June 11, resulted in serious injuries to the two riders of the motorcycle, but only minor injuries to the driver of the sedan, who was later arrested.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the sedan, driven by 61 year-old Frank Meyer, of Floral City, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 41, and just south of East Tower Road, Mr. Meyer attempted to turn left into a parking lot and entered into the path of the motorcycle, that was traveling south on U. S. Highway 41, which resulted in the motorcycle colliding with the passenger side of the sedan.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected onto the roadway, and each suffered serious injuries. The driver was a 37 year-old man from Inverness, and his passenger, also from Inverness, was a 35 year-old woman.
Following the crash, Mr. Meyer was arrested, charged with driving under the influence (DUI) with serious injuries and property damage. According to the FHP press release, Meyer's breath alcohol level was measured at 0.275, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08. He was incarcerated at the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida.
