Williston, Florida - Two men were injured, one critically, in a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Williston on Thusday, May 5, 2022, at 5:45 pm on U.S. Highway 27 Alternate (State Road 500) at NE 143rd Avenue.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 31 year old man from Williston was driving a black sedan (or possibly a sport utility vehicle), traveling north on SR 500 and failed to maintain his lane of travel. The vehicle left the roadway and traveled onto the east shoulder. The driver over-corrected and crossed over both northbound lanes of State Road 500, entered the median, where it became airborne, and continued in a westerly direction. The vehicle overturned, crossed over the southbound lanes of State Road 500, then came to rest on the west shoulder, facing south.
The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a hospital in critical condition, while his passenger, a 32 year-old man from Trenton, Florida, who was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the press release, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.
