Levy County School bus carrying 28 students in Chiefland, FL backs into van on roadway, no injuries reported

Chiefland (Levy County), Florida - A crash between a Levy County School Bus and a van occurred in Chiefland, Florida at 3:15 pm, Tuesday afternoon, April 19, but there were no reports of injuries to the occupants of either vehicle, according the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), at the time of a press release.
The school bus was driven by a 55 year-old woman from Chiefland, Florida, who carried 28 student passengers, and the van was driven by a 41 year-old man from Chiefland who carried a 33 year-old woman, also a Chiefland resident, as his passenger
The crash occurred on NW 80th Court, south of NW 120th Street, in Chiefland, FL. The school bus was traveling north on NW 80 Court, and the van was traveling in the same direction, directly behind the school bus, when the school bus came to a stop in the roadway, and the driver reversed her direction and began traveling south (in reverse) in the northbound lane.
The van had also come to a stop behind the bus, and the driver was attempting to also drive in reverse, in order to avoid a collision with the bus, but he was unable to do so quickly enough to avoid the crash, and the rear of the school bus struck the front of the van within the northbound lane of NW 80th Court. Both vehicles came to rest in the area of the collision in the northbound lane of NW 80th Court.
