Citrus County, Florida - A 63 year-old woman from Inglis, Florida died as the result of a traffic crash that occurred at 10:40 am, April 12, in northern Crystal River, Florida, on U. S. Highway 19, at the intersection of W. Dunnellon Rd. (CR 488)
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the Inglis woman was driving a sedan, traveling south on US 19, in the inside lane, approaching the intersection of W. Dunnellon Rd. At the intersection ahead of the sedan, two other vehicles, also traveling south on US 19, were stopped at a red traffic signal in the inside, southbound lane - a pickup truck driven by a 56 year-old man from Homosassa, Florida, that was behind a van driven by a 69 year-old man from Morriston, Florida, who carried a passenger, a 60 year-old woman, also from Morriston. The FHP press release stated that the sedan failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the rear of the pickup truck, which propelled it forward into the rear of the van.
The Inglis woman was transported to an area hospital, where she expired from injuries suffered during the crash, later the same day. The driver of the pickup truck suffered serious injuries, while the driver of the van and his passenger both suffered minor injuries.
All four passengers were wearing a seatbelt, according to the FHP.
