Inverness hit and run driver arrested, more than a year after crash and death of pizza delivery woman

Inverness, Florida - More than a year after a 45 year-old Inverness woman died as the result of a hit and run crash that occurred on February 25, 2021, the man suspected as the hit and run driver, 37 year-old Mark Anthony Wieder, also of Inverness, was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) on April 7, 2022, charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death, and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Wieder was delivered to the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, Florida, with his bond set at none.
According to the FHP, the vehicle suspected as being the vehicle driven in the hit and run crash, a GMC Sierra pickup truck, had been located prior to Wieder's arrest.
The crash occurred at 7:20 pm, February 25, 2021. According to the FHP, the pizza delivery driver had parked her vehicle, a sports utility vehicle, partially in the driveway and partially in the roadway of a residence located at 6001 S. Cascade Ave. The pizza delivery driver was outside of her vehicle with her passenger side door open in an attempt to deliver pizzas, when the GMC Sierra pickup truck, traveling north on S. Cascade Ave. near E. Penrose St., struck the woman and her open side door, then fled from the area.
The injured woman was airlifted to Ocala Regional Medical Center in Ocala, FL, where she later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
