Motorcyclist from Spring Hill dies in four-vehicle Homosassa crash

Homosassa, Florida - A 35 year-old man from Spring Hill, Florida, who was driving a motorcycle, died as the result of a four-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 11:50 pm, Tuesday, March 15, 2022, on U.S. Hwy. 19 (S. Suncoast Blvd.) at W. Cardinal St. in Homosassa. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), all four vehicles were traveling south on US 19, north of W. Cardinal St., and the motorcycle was either slowing or stopped in the roadway and was struck from behind by a sedan. Two other vehicles, a pickup truck and a sport utility vehicle both traveled to the outside shoulder to avoid the crash, but collided with the rider who had been ejected from the motorcycle; he suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.  

The sedan was driven by a 68 year-old woman from Homosassa who carried a 73 year-old male passenger, also of Homosassa. Both suffered minor injuries.

The pickup truck carried three passengers, all from Spring Hill, Florida, the 30 year-old male driver, a 15 year-old boy and a 1 year-old girl, none of which suffered injuries during the crash.

The driver of the SUV was a 48 year-old man from Knoxville, Tennessee who carried no pasengers and suffered no injuries during the crash.

Accorring to the FHP press release, all the passengers involved in the crash were wearing a seatbelt, and the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
