Pasco County, Florida - A 67 year-old woman from Weekie Wachee, Florida died as the result of a two vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Zephyrhills, Florida on Friday, afternoon, February 25, 2022 at 5:15 pm. The woman was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle (SUV) that was driven by an 18 year-old girl, also from Weeki Wachee, who was seriously injured in the crash, as was the other driver, a 25 year-old man from Crystal River, Florida who was driving a sedan
According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the 18 year-old girl from Weeki Wachee, driving the SUV, was traveling east on Happy Days Drive, stopped at the intersection of US 19.
The 25 year-old man from Crystal River, driving the sedan, was traveling south on US 19, approaching the intersection of Happy Days Drive.
The press release stated that the girl failed to see the sedan and turned left onto US 19, into the path of the sedan, which resulted in the front of the sedan colliding with the left side of the SUV. After the impact, both vehicles rotated and then came to final rest in the median break.
The 67 year-old passenger in the SUV was transported to an area hospital where she later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
