Ocala, Florida - Two drivers from Citrus County, Florida were involved in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Marion County, Monday, January 24, that closed an Ocala roadway until 11:00 am, due to spilled sewage on the roadway.

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, at 6:18 am, a 39 year-old Beverly Hills man, driving a 2007 Kenworth truck that was carrying a 1000-gallon sewage tank, was traveling north on Emerald Road, and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection of Oak Road. As the truck proceeded across Oak Road, the left front of the truck struck the right front of a 2011 Hyundai two-door sedan, traveling east on Oak Road, that was operated by a 36 year-old man from Hernando, Florida.

After the collision, the Kenworth truck overturned onto its left side, and the sewage tank separated from the truck, and when it landed on the roadway, raw sewage spilled across the intersection, which necessitated in the intersection being closed to traffic until 11:00 am so the roadway could be cleaned of sewage.

The driver of the truck received minor injuries, and the driver of the sedan was not injured in the crash. Both drivers wore a seatbelt, and neither carried a passenger
