UPDATE, Oct. 6, 2021
According to FDOT District 7 spokesperson, Kristen Carson, the traffic was put into the two-way pattern on the southbound lanes and is flowing well. According to local motorists, however, the traffic pattern is causing substantial delays. About 100 yards of sand was put in the hole and there has been no further settling, as of Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 6, and it will likely be several days before the repairs will be completed and traffic put back into its normal configuration, but no firm estimate can be given as to the opening date of the two closed northbound traffic lanes.
UPDATE, Oct. 5, 2021
Aound 1:15 pm on Tuesday, October 5, the FDOT was still working to repair the large depression. The hole has been filled in, but traffic was still being diverted with one southbound lane still being used for northbound traffic while the repair is completed. Motorists can expect this area to be very congested and should avoid this route if possible.
