UPDATE:  The man killed in the crash was identified as a 48 year-old man from Lake City. His family was notified of the crash and his death.

FHP seeking help to identify the driver of 1993 Honda scooter killed in Sept. 8, Live Oak, FL crash

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is seeking the help of the public to identify the victim who died as the result of a traffic crash that occurred on Wednesday night, Sept. 8, 2021 at 9:45 p.m. in Live Oak (Suwannee County), Florida. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes of County Road 49, near 94th Street and the S & S Food Store, a convenience store located at 9980 U.S. Hwy. 90.

According to a press release by the FHP, the man who died in the crash was driving a red 1993 Honda scooter, traveling north on County Road 49, and he was not wearing a helmet.

A 2004 Jeep Cherokee vehicle was also traveling north on County Road 49, behind the scooter, and for unknown reasons, the Jeep Cherokee drove into the rear of the scooter, knocking the driver onto the pavement. No information was given as to the occupants of the Jeep Cherokee.
 
While the driver was lying on the pavement, a 2016 Nissan Altima sedan drove over the driver of the scooter, who was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash. The occupants of the sedan were not injured. The driver was listed as a 33 year-old man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and his passenger was listed as a 28 year-old woman who was searing a seatbelt. Both were from Live Oak, Florida. 

FHP investigators are seeking information about the identify of the Honda scooter driver, who is described as a white male with a small to medium build, with balding hair, a short-cropped gray beard and multiple tattoos: a large eagle tattoo on his chest, a tattoo of a microphone on his right bicep, and a tattoo of a young child and the name "Jailyn" on his rib cage.
