FHP seeking hit and run sedan that sideswiped school bus in Fanning Springs; no injuries

Levy County, Florida - At 3:45 pm on August 18, 2021, a Levy County School District school bus was involved in a hit and run traffic crash that occurred on NW 70th Avenue, south of State Road 320, in Fanning Springs, Florida. At the time of the crash, the 57 year-old male school bus driver and three students were on board the school bus, but none were injuried.
The vehicle that struck the school bus is believed to be a 2014 to 2017 model, dark gray Chevrolet Malibu sedan, missing its driver side side-view mirror. If anyone has information as to the possible identity of this driver or the location of this vehicle, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 1-800-387-1290.
According to a press relese by the Florida Highway Patrol, the gray sedan was traveling north on NW 70th Avenue in Fanning Springs, and for unknown reasons, crossed over the center line of NW 70h Avenue and began traveling north in the southbound lane. The school bus driver, who was driving the school bus in a southerly direction in the southbound lane, observed the sedan approaching, and traveled onto the west shoulder of NW 70the Avenue to avoid a head-on collision with the sedan. However, the sedan struck the school bus on the driver's side with its driver's side side-view mirror, then fled the scene traveling north on NW 70th Avenue, without stopping or leaving information.
