One killed, two seriously injured in June 23, Hernando, Florida crash; one sustained minor injuries

A traffic crash that occurred in Hernando, Florida on Wednesdsay afternoon, June 23, killed one driver and seriously injured her two passengers. The other driver received only minor injuries. The crash occurred at 3:13 pm on Citrus County Road 486 (E. Norvell Bryant Hwy.) at N. Annapolis Ave. in Hernando, Florida.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 19 year old male from Hernando, Florida was driving a sports utility vehicle (SUV), traveling east in the left turn lane of CR 486, approaching the intersection with N. Annapolis Ave. at the same time a 21 year-old woman from Inverness, Florida was driving a van, traveling west (in the opposite direction) on CR 486. At the intersection, the SUV turned left, into the path of the van, and the SUV crashed into the left side of the van. After the impact, the van rotated and overturned numerous times. 

The driver of the van was transported to an area hospital where she expired from injuries suffered during the crash. Her two passengers, a one year-old boy and an 18 year-old female, both from Inverness, Florida, were seriously injured.

According to the press release, each of the four passengers was wearing a proper restraint.
