Williston man, 70, killed in June 10, Williston head-on crash

Levy County, Florida - A 70 year old man from Williston, Florida died as the result of a two-vehicle, head-on collision that occured in Williston on Thursday evening, June 10, at 8:52 pm. The crash occurred on SE 2nd Street at the intersection of SE 183rd Terrace. 

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Williston man was driving a pickup truck, traveling west on SE 2nd Street, negotiating a right curve, and crossed the center line, which resulted in the front of his pickup truck colliding with the front of another pickup truck, driven by a 36 year-old man from Live Oak, Florida, that was traveling in the opposite direction - east - on SE 183rd Terrace (he was approaching a left curve from his direction of travel).

After the impact, the truck of the Williston man came to rest within the intersection of SE 2nd Street and SE 183rd Terrace, facing south, while the other truck came to rest in the eastbound travel lane, facing east.

According to the FHP press release, the Live Oak driver carried two passengers, a 35 year-old woman, and a 12 year-old boy, both of Live Oak, Florida. None of the Live Oak passengers were injured in the crash, and each was wearing a seatbelt. The Williston driver was not wearing a seatbelt, the release stated.
