Citrus Springs woman, driving pickup truck, killed during crash with van in Hernando, FL

Citrus County, Florida - A two-vehicle crash that occurred in Hernando, Florida on Sunday, April 25, at 3:05 pm, resulted in the death of one of the drivers at the scene of the crash. The driver who perished in the crash was a 19 year-old woman from Citrus Springs, Florida. The crash occurred on State Road 200 (Carl G. Rose Hwy.) at County Road 491 (N. Lecanto Hwy.).

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, a 63 year-old man from Beverly Hills, Florida was driving a van, traveling north on CR 491, and had stopped at the intersection with SR 200 where there was a stop sign. The van driver entered the intersection to make a left turn, and traveled into the path of the pickup truck driven by the 19 year-old woman from Citrus Springs that was traveling west on SR 200, approaching the intersection with CR 491. As a result, the front of the van collided with the right rear of the pickup truck. 

After the impact, the pickup truck began to rotate and departed from the roadway. It overturned and collided with a fence before coming to rest. The van came to rest within the eastbound left turn lane of SR 200. 

Each driver was wearing a seatbelt, and neither carried a passenger. The driver of the van was not injured.
