Motorcyclist killed in Inverness crash with SUV

Citrus County, Florida - A 54 year-old Dunellon man driving a motorcycle lost his life, Sunday, April 4, as the result of a traffic crash that occurred in Inverness at 9:41 pm
According to a press release by the FHP, the motorcyclist was traveling north on N. Independence Hwy., near the intersection with N. Florida Ave. (US 41). At the same time, a 32 year-old Inverness woman was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling south on N. Independence Hwy. As the motorcycle entered a curve in the roadway, the rider lost control of the motorcycle, which overturned, slid into the southbound lanes and collided with the SUV.
The driver of the motorcycle suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. The press release stated that he was wearing a helmet, and the driver of the SUV was wearing a seatbelt; she was not injuried in the crash. Neither driver carried a passenger.
The names of the drivers were not released due to Marsy's Law, Florida's victim protection law.
