Citrus County, Florida - Two people were seriously injuried as the result of a single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Crystal River on Saturday, April 3, at 11:36 pm.

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol, the driver, a 22 year-old Inverness man, was driving a sedan, traveling south on North Citrus Avenue, north of West Emerald Oaks Drive at a high rate of speed, when he lost control of the vehicle, which departed from the roadway and traveled onto the west shoulder. The sedan struck a fence then became airborne, collided with two trees and overturned before coming to rest.

The driver carried one passenger, a 21 year-old woman from Floral City. The driver and his passenger were each wearing a seatbelt, according to the press release.

Due to Marsy's Law, Florida's victim protection law, the FHP no longer releases names in its press releases of traffic crashes.
