Williston man killed in single-vehicle crash in Archer, FL

Alachua County, Florida - A 26 year-old Williston, Florida man died as the result of a single-vehicle traffic crash that occured in Archer, Florida on Saturday, March 20, at 10:00 pm. The crash occurred on County Road 241, about a half-mile north of SW 175th Avenue.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Williston man was driving a pickup truck, traveling south on County Road 241, when for an unknown reason, the vehicle veered to the left, traveled across the northbound lane and onto the east shoulder of the roadway, where the front of the vehicle collided into a tree. The impact caused the rear of the vehicle to travel off the ground and come to rest against a tree.

The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. About 2:10 am, the driver was pronounced deceased at the hospital. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation. The driver's name was not released due to Marsy's Law, Florida's victim protection statute.
