According to the Gilchrist County Journal, on June 30, 2020, Captain Daniel "Charlie" Caulk retired from the Florida Highway Patrol after 24 years of law enforcement service, as commander of the agency's Troop I Tallahassee/Lake City region in the Big Bend area.
    
Captain Caulk began his law enforcement career by serving as dispatcher for two years with the Citrus and Levy County sheriff’s offices, followed by a year with the Chiefland Police Department and two years with the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office.
    
Prior to his law enforcement career, Captain Caulk retired from the U.S. Navy where he flew more that 4000 hours as a helicopter crew chief and rescue swimmer.
