A 61 year-old Williston man died as the result of a traffic crash that occurred in Levy County on Friday evening, March 12, at 10:50 pm.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a sports utility on US 27 Alternate, just south of County Road 318 in Williston, when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway at a high rate of speed and entered the grass median. The vehicle began to rotate in a clockwise direction, and the driver overcorrected to the right and lost control of the vehicle, which re-entered the roadway. The driver overcorrected to the left, and the vehicle overturned across the roadway, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle came to rest, upright, obstructing the roadway.

The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene by Levy County Fire Rescue. His name was not released due to Marsy's Law, Florida's victim protection law.
