K9 Gunny, retired 5 years from CCSO after 7.5 years of service, passes away

On January 29, 2025, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office recently announced the passing of K9 (police dog) Gunny, who retired from the agency in January 2019 after seven and a half years of service as a dual-certified patrol and narcotics canine. Throughout his career at the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, K9 Gunny tracked and apprehended dangerous felons, assisted in searching for missing persons, and was instrumental in locating large quantities of illegal drugs that included 270 grams of cocaine, 412 grams of methamphetamine, 40 grams of heroin, and 734 pills
