On March 16, 2024, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office deputies located 49 year-old Shannan Pamela Murphy, a missing woman from Inverness, Florida, who was found deceased after an extensive search that began on March 14, 2024, when she was reported missing.
The Citrus County Sheriff's Office issued a Purple Alert for Ms. Murphy on March 14, 2024. A Florida Purple Alert is used to assist in locating missing adults who suffer from a mental or cognitive disability that is not related to dementia.
Although Ms. Murphy's case is still under investigation, at the time of the press release that stated she'd been found, there was no evidence of foul play.
Ms. Murphy, who was described as five feet two inches tall, weighing 145 pounds, with dark blonde hair and brown eyes, had last been seen, around 2:50 p.m., March 14, 2024, walking northbound on N. Point Lonesome Road in Inverness. She was described as wearing a maroon “Relay for Life” shirt, light-colored shorts, white sneakers, and a baseball cap with a palm trees pattern, possibly carrying a black cell phone and wearing earbuds.
