UPDATE: EXPANDED RECALL of Blue Ridge Beef pet food
Blue Ridge Beef issued an expansion of its voluntary recall of three pet foods:
Blue Ridge Beef Kitten Grind,
Blue Ridge Kitten Mix and
Blue Ridge Beef Puppy Mix
due to Salmonella and Listeria Monocytogenes Contamination.

January 3, 2024 – Blue Ridge Beef pet food company of Statesville, NC expanded its pet food recall of December 22, 2023, to include additional lot numbers and all states that may have received the recalled product lot numbers.
The products were distributed between 11/14/2023 – 12/20/2023.
The products were sold primarily in retail stores located in the following states:
CT, FL, IA, IL, MA, MD, MI, NC, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, TN, VA and WI.
This recall includes ALL lot numbers - and use by dates between N24 1114 to N24 1224 of:
2 lb. log of Kitten Grind, UPC 8 54298 00101 6,
2 lb. log of Kitten Mix, UPC 8 54298 00143 6, and
2 lb. log of Puppy Mix, UPC 8 54298 00169 6.
These products were packaged in clear plastic tubes.
The lot numbers and used by dates are located on the silver tabs at the end of the tubes.
No illnesses have been reported to date.

Recalled products
On December 21, 2023, Blue Ridge Beef issued a voluntary recall of three Blue Ridge Beef pet food brands due to Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The affected products are:
• Blue Ridge Kitten Grind, 2 lb. log, UPC 8 54298 00101 6, N24 1114 to N24 1224.
• Blue Ridge Kitten Mix, 2 lb. log, UPC 8 54298 00243 6, N24 1114 to N24 1224.
• Blue Ridge Puppy Mix, 2 lb. log, UPC 8 54298 00169 6, N24 1114 to N24 1224.
The lot numbers and used by dates are located on the silver tabs at the end of the tubes.
About Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes
Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes can affect an animals that eats the product. There is also a risk to humans if they handle a contaminated pet products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
Healthy people infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for some or all of the following symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with this product should contact their healthcare providers.
Pets with Salmonella and Listeria infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
On December 15, 2023, Blue Ridge Beef was notified by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services that one lot of each of the products were sampled. However, in an abundance of caution, the companyis recalling all lots with the used by dates between N24 1114 to N24 1224.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
The products were distributed between November 14, 2023 through December 20, 2023. These products were packaged in clear plastic and sold primarily in retail stores located in the states of: CT, MA, MD, NC, NY, PA & VA.
What to do
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to contact Blue Ridge Beef by email at blueridgebeefnc@yahoo.com for a full refund. Please destroy the food in such a way that children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it. Do not sell or donate the recalled products. Do not feed the recalled product to pets or any other animals. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers. Always ensure you wash and sanitize your hands after handling recalled food or any utensils that come in contact with recalled food.
