Ms. Cooper was inside the stolen vehicle in the store's parking lot. With his gun drawn, a LCSO deputy ordered Ms. Cooper to show her hands, and she initially showed her hands, then lowered them and ignored further commands by deputies, so a LCSO deputy and a CCSO detective covered themselves with a ballistic shield and advanced toward Ms. Cooper, who had to be physically pulled from the vehicle to be placed into handcuffs. The arrest report stated, in plain view on the passenger seat of the convertible, there was a black box of 0.38-special ammunition labeled Ammo Incorporated that contained 34 live rounds, and in the trunk of the vehicle, deputies located 7 spent casings and 3 live rounds inside a 0.38-special handgun.
